Xiamen makes great breakthrough in bulk commodity trading
Xiamen city in Fujian province has witness a bom in bulk commodity trading in the past year, said the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce on its website on July 4.
First, the supportive policy produces obvious effects on the import of bulk commodity. Since the implementation of a supportive policy on the imports in 2007, the municipal financial department has put in nearly 50 million yuan in awarding imports as of 2013. Meanwhile, enterprises get help to obtain import interest subsidies of over 20 million yuan from the state, to effectively push forward the import of bulk commodity in Xiamen. Compared with the import of bulk commodity in 2006, the import of bulk commodity such as iron ore, nickel ore, copper ore, coal, oil products, chemical products, soybean, bean pulp, fish meal, paper pulp and wood pulp increased 1.3 times in 2013.
Second, enterprises get help obtaining the qualification for importing bulk commodity. Here, the enterprises are supported to obtain the operation qualification as specified by such management systems as "State Trading Management", "Verified Operation Qualification” and "Assigned Import Port". So far, more than 20 enterprises in Xiamen have been provided with the operation qualification for such import commodities as petroleum products, vegetable oil and iron ore.
Third, construction of an imported bulk commodity trading center is boosted. The bean pulp futures delivery and rapeseed oil futures delivery are approved by Zhengzhou Exchange and put into use. In 2013, nearly $50 million was earned through such imports. The bulk commodity trading platforms for petroleum, stone and red wine are established and enhanced. For example, in 2013, turnover at the petroleum trading center reached 100 billion yuan. The amount of import and export for stone was $4 billion. The amount of import for red wine was over $40 million.
