Xiamen's foreign investment hits $540m in first half of 2014
New foreign investment projects by Xiamen in the first half of this year reached 54, an increase of 58.2 percent over the same period of the previous year. The contracted foreign investment hit $542 million, an increase of 16.9 percent year on year, in which Chinese investment was $511 million, an increase of 230.3%.
The investment projects are mainly in Hong Kong, the USA, Singapore and another 11 countries and regions. Hong Kong is still the main investment destination of Xiamen.
By the end of the June, Xiamen’s total foreign investment projects were 628, with an accrued investment volume of $2.9 billion, in which Chinese investment accounted for $2.1 billion.

As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
