US commercial consul visits Xiamen for investment
James Rigassio, Principal Commercial Office of the US Consulate General in Guangzhou, and Berry Zhang, a senior commercial executive, visited Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce on Aug 28.
Yao Muzhong, deputy director of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce’s foreign trade department and delegates from some enterprises which trade with the US, attended the conference which discussed the expansion of trade and investment.
In the conference, the commercial office of the American Consulate General gave the background to some marketing projects in the light of Xiamen’s import and export trade with the America. The municipal bureau of commerce introduced measures on further expanding the import of bulk commodities. Business representatives offered some suggestions on some problems which occurred with US-imported agricultural products and meat.
The commercial office of the American Consulate General and Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce reached a consensus, upholding the cooperative relationship and continuing to promote the development of mutual trade and investment.

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
