High-tech CIFIT: QR code strengthens security work
A QR code system and social media platform such as WeChat will be used to identify guests and insure all the materials used in the venue are up to safety standards in the 18th China International Fair for Investment & Trade (CIFIT), according to Wang Guigen, the vice-chief of Xiamen’s fire brigade.
The CIFIT committee is now able to inspect the preparation works of each booth from photos and information uploaded to the official CIFIT WeChat account, or alternatively by scanning the QR code on their mobile phones.
“All materials used this year must be nonflammable, including the carpets,” said Wang.
Furthermore, if any potential safety hazard is found by inspectors at the scene, they can take photos and share them via the platform. A credit system will also be applied to all the exhibitors during the 4-day fair, held from Sept 8 to 11.

As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
