Fujian to build 18 intercity railways
Fujian province plans to build 18 intercity railways with a combined length of 1,045 kilometers by 2030, according to a report by the Fujian Provincial Development and Reform Commission.
10 of the intercity rails will be in the metropolitan area of Fuzhou, Ningde and Putian; 6 will be situated in the southern area of Quanzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzhou, and another two in the Wuyi New Area in northern Fujian.
Nine of the railways will be built by 2020, stretching 559 kilometers and with an accrued investment of nearly 100 billion ($16 billion) yuan.

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
