Fujian gets tough on polluting enterprises
30 enterprises discharging too many pollutants were recently put on the watch list by environmental protection authorities in Fujian.
The enterprises scattered across the province are mainly engaged in the business of mining, metal production, machinery and paper-making.
They have been ordered to stop illegal pollution before a deadline, otherwise the local governments will suspend them from business or even shut them down, said the Fujian Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau.
It is the bureau’s eighth large-scale crackdown on polluting enterprises this year.

As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
