Two international marine events planned in Xiamen
Xiamen signed cooperation contracts with the China Diving & Salvage Contractors Association and BIC Congress Inc to stage the "World Ocean Congress" and "China International Diving, Salvage & Offshore Expo" from 2015 at the third World Ocean Congress following the 2014 China International Diving, Salvage & Offshore Summit (DSOS), which was held from Oct 16 to 18 in Dalian, northeastern China’s Liaoning province.
The China International Diving, Salvage & Offshore Expo is the only one in China to cover the fields of diving salvage and technology research, manufacturing and the application of ocean engineering equipment.
The World Ocean Congress, sponsored by BIC Congress Inc, attracted 1,000 people from 70 countries and regions and included 90 themed forums in 2014. BIC Congress Inc is the biggest international congress company in Asia, and has held 300 international conferences in different fields, including biological medicine, energy usage, environmental protection, new materials, IT, marine and economics. More than 100,000 experts and entrepreneurs from all over the world and 45 Nobel Prize winners have attended BIC’s conferences.
The two annual events will see Xiamen staging – at the same time – World Ocean Week and Xiamen International Fisheries Expo. “Two conferences and two expos” will promote Xiamen’s marine industry and facilitate the upgrading of Xiamen’s tourism expos.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
