Xiamen cross-border e-commerce industrial park brought into use
An opening ceremony of the Xiamen Cross-border Electronic Commerce Industrial Park was held in Xiamen on Dec 20, after its first phase was officially brought into use.
With a total planned construction area of about 100,000 square meters, the park is located in Zhaishang village, Huli District, Xiamen, adjoining the Xiangyu Bonded Area .
The construction of the park is divided into two phrases. The first phase is an 8-storied factory building covering an area of about 50,000 square meters. Preliminary procedures for the second phase of the park have been approved and will start construction at the beginning of 2015.
“Xiamen has played a pioneering role in the cross-Straits logistics business. The new industrial park will provide a multi-functional platform for cross-border businesses on both sides,” said Chen Fang, vice CEO of Xiangyu Group, adding that cross-Straits e-commerce has been rising rapidly with a substantial turnover.
“Last year, the total turnover surpassed 40 billion yuan ($6.6 billion). Major e-commerce sites such as Taobao, Jingdong, Amazon, and 1688 have established online platforms for the direct service of Taiwan goods. Xiangyu Group is now cooperating with four of them,” he said.
“It’s like we put the offline business of Taiwan goods in Dadeng and Xiaodeng Islands in Xiamen online, and the Xiangyu Group, acting as the channel, will further integrate and control those goods,” Chen said.
“Xiangyu Group is now actively preparing the logistics industry development fund to better help the innovation of the logistics industry and build a new model for logistics development as part of the Internet economy.”
