Ministry of Commerce officials visit CIFIT organizers
Organizers of the China International Fair for Investment & Trade received guests from China's Commerce Ministry in Xiamen, Fujian province on Jan 20.
Wang Qiongwen, director of the Xiamen Bureau of Convention and Exhibition Affairs, and Jiang Meiyue, Party secretary of the bureau, held talks with Yu Hongbo, top official of the Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Department and vice secretary-general of the Association of Economy and Trade Across Taiwan Straits – two of the ministry's units responsible for cooperation with Taiwan.
Issues under discussion at their meeting included how to focus the fair on cross-Straits cooperation and how to hold seminars that are forward-looking and offer practical guidance.
The participants agreed that the fair has benefited from the host city Xiamen's proximity to Taiwan and has been successfully organized under the ministry's guidance.
The fair's organizers said that they will continue to cooperate with the ministry to bond with Taiwan enterprises, to provide better seminars for business personnel, and to ensure the fair productively serves the national development strategy and regional economic growth.

Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
