Xiamen to host grain, oil product expo in September
Xiamen in East China's Fujian province is set to host the first China (Xiamen) International Grain, Oil Product, Equipment and Technology Expo from September 20 to 22, local media reported on April 18.
The event marks the first time that Xiamen, China's largest grain consumer, has organized an expo such as this.
It will feature eight different pavilions showcasing domestic and imported grain and oil products, Taiwan products, high quality rices, food materials, grain machines, achievements in targeted poverty alleviation, and creative bakery products.
A series of supplementary activities are also expected to be held during the expo, including a creative baking competition and a summit discussing Chinese grain.
According to the expo's organizing committee, all grain production areas and more than 50 major grain and oil businesses in China have signed up for the event.
The expo will create a distribution platform with participating companies to help them sell their products in Xiamen and across China, said a spokesman for the expo's organizing committee.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
