Xiamen debuts business tour for foreign diplomats

The Foreign Affairs Office of Xiamen in East China's Fujian province organized a business tour for more than 20 foreign diplomats and entrepreneurs in the city on June 27.
The delegation visited the Taiwan Investment Zone in Zhangzhou, a Fujian city adjacent to Xiamen and the Maluanwan New Urban Zone in the Haicang district of Xiamen.
Organizers said in the Zhangzhou Taiwan Investment Zone, they got a comprehensive understanding of the importance of financial remittances from overseas Chinese to the economy of southern Fujian.
Julius Caesar Aragon Flores, consul general of the Philippines in Xiamen, promised to organize a media delegation from Manila, capital of the Philippines, to film and promote the traditional culture and overseas Chinese culture in South Fujian.

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
