Xiamen Port sees strong development in 2019

Xiamen Port in East China's Fujian province saw strong development in 2019, according to the Xiamen Port Authority.
Last year, the port handled more than 11.12 million containers, a 3.92 percent year-on-year increase. This makes it the 14th most productive port in the world and the seventh most productive in China.
Xiamen Port launched 43 routes named after the Maritime Silk Road in 2019, which accommodated 1,575 trips and handled 1.34 million containers.
The port received a record 136 cruise liners last year, a year-on-year increase of 41.67 percent, and hosted a record 413,700 passengers over the same period, a 27.38 percent year-on-year increase.
In addition, overall plans for Xiamen Port were approved. The port was also selected as one of 23 national-level logistics hubs and topped other maritime container ports in China in terms of business environment.
In 2020, Xiamen Port plans to handle 11.45 million containers and 210 million tons of goods and host 450,000 cruise passengers, according to Wu Shunbin, director of the Xiamen Port Authority.

In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
