Xiamen sees GDP up 7.9 pct in 2019
Xiamen in East China's Fujian province reported an estimated 7.9 percent year-on-year growth in its gross domestic product (GDP) in 2019 to 599.5 billion yuan ($85.87 billion), according to Xiamen municipal statistics bureau on Jan 21.
The figure was 0.3 percentage points higher than the provincial average.
The total output of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery in the city reached 5.74 billion yuan, a yearly increase of 2.8 percent.
The added value of industries above a designated size grew 8.6 percent year-on-year and that of hi-tech industries increased by 10.4 percent.
In 2019, Xiamen greeted 100 million tourists from home and abroad, a year-on-year increase of 12.5 percent and its tourism revenue surged 18.1 percent to 165.59 million yuan.
The city also hosted more than 9,000 commercial meetings and exhibitions last year.
The sales volume of wholesale and retail industry in Xiamen stood at 1.48 trillion yuan, a 10.9 percent increase than last year and online retails was its biggest highlight, which accounted for 21.8 percent of the total sales volume.
Xiamen's imports and exports increased 6.9 percent year-on-year in 2019 to 641.29 billion yuan, 3.5 percentage points higher than the national average.
Exports expanded by 5.7 percent year-on-year to 352.876 billion yuan, while imports jumped 8.3 percent to 288.42 billion yuan.
