The 2020 China Brand Day was launched online for the first time May 10, gathering 17 Xiamen enterprises to show their latest products and technologies.
The annual event, running online from May 10 to 12, was unveiled on the internet due to the COVID-19 epidemic and organized by the National Development and Reform Commission, China's top economic planner, along with the ministries of commerce, agriculture and rural affairs.
Over recent years, Xiamen has made great efforts to boost the growth of brands and constantly raise the quality and influence of its products and services. One enterprise in the city was nominated for the China Quality Award, and Xiamen currently has 117 Chinese famous brands.
Statistics from the Xiamen Development and Reform Commission show that the number of effectively registered trademarks in Xiamen has kept rising in recent years, accounting for more than 25 percent of Fujian's total number. The city has also created eight industrial chains and clusters valued at 800 billion yuan ($112.74 billion).
"The 2020 China Brand Day offers a great chance to promote Xiamen brands, as well as acting as a platform to promote investment," said an official from the city's commission of development and reform.
The government official added that Xiamen brands are playing a leading role in the city's high-quality development. Xiamen is increasing efforts to accelerate the creation of more famous brands, deepening brand awareness in the wider society, and guiding companies to uphold the spirit of professionalism and craftsmanship, with the aim of attracting foreign businesses and investment.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
