Xiamen to bolster modern logistics industry

The coastal city of Xiamen, East China's Fujian province, has drawn up blueprints for the development of modern logistics industry in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period. It plans to attract more investment from industrial leaders, according to a local news report.
The total revenue of the modern logistics industry in Xiamen increased by 99.56 percent year-on-year to 39.8 billion yuan ($6.08 billion) in the first three months of this year, indicating a sharp rebound in the post-pandemic era.
Official data show that the modern logistics industry, one of the city's pillar industries, has witnessed steady growth as of late, with its annual growth rate exceeding 5.7 percent during the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-20) period.
Xiamen is an international comprehensive transportation hub, an international shipping center, and a key port city of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road and the Silk Road Economic Belt and boasts a solid foundation for the development of a modern logistics industry.
Local authorities said that in the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Xiamen will promote the development of modern logistics and digitization in an effort to transform and upgrade the modern logistics industry.
