The Xiamen Area of the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone in East China's Fujian province saw rapid growth in its integrated circuit (IC) industry, with a total of 186 IC enterprises settling in the area's Innovation and Entrepreneurial Base for the IC industry, bringing in a total registered capital of 1.77 billion yuan ($275.64 million), official data showed.
In recent years, the Xiamen area of Fujian FTZ has leveraged preferential policies to build a complete industrial chain for the development of the IC industry, which has developed into one of Xiamen's eight industrial chains, and has an annual output of 100 billion yuan.
Local authorities said that the area has rolled out an array of innovative measures to boost the healthy development of the IC industry, and the city's authorities have improved its supervision model to offer a better environment for the development of the IC industry.
The development of a cross-Straits integrated circuit industry cooperation pilot zone was also sped up. The area will offer services such as IC product testing and certification and bonded transactions.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
