In the January-July period, Xiamen's total retail sales of consumer goods reached 160.93 billion yuan ($24.83 billion), up 24.8 percent year-on-year, according to the municipal bureau of statistics.

In July alone, the city's total retail sales of consumer goods hit 19.39 billion yuan, up 5.4 percent year-on-year.

Statistics showed that both online and offline retail sales of consumer goods contributed to the overall growth of consumer goods' retail sales in the first seven months, reaching 32.68 billion yuan and 52.24 billion yuan respectively, up 29.1 percent and 30.7 percent.

The retail sales of enterprises above the designated size in the city hit 90.68 billion yuan, accounting for 56.3 percent of the total retail sales of consumer goods and growing 30.9 percent year-on-year.

Among the enterprises above designated size, the retail sales of cosmetics grew the most, increasing by 2.45 times over the previous year. The retail sales of clothing, footwear, and textiles increased by 60.1 percent year-on-year, and drove the total retail sales of consumer goods up by 6.7 percentage points.

From January to July, the city's retail sales of automobiles above designated size reached 22.95 billion yuan, up 35.1 percent year-on-year. The retail sales of new energy vehicles reached 2.39 billion yuan, accounting for 44.2 percent of the provincial total.

The city's catering industry above designated size achieved a turnover of 5.29 billion yuan in the January-July period, growing 49.9 percent year-on-year, with a total of 219 restaurants achieving growth in sales.
