Eight projects from Xiamen, Fujian province were signed at the 21st China International Fair for Investment and Trade on Sept 8.
The projects, worth a combined 35.15 billion yuan ($5.44 billion) in investments, cover Xiamen's key industries like modern agriculture and food processing, electronic information and digital technologies, new energy, biology and new medicine.
One of the projects is AKM Meadville's manufacturing base for research and development, high-tech intelligent manufacturing, and sales and service in Haicang district, Xiamen. After completion, the annual output value of the facility is expected to reach 10 billion yuan.
Xiamen's efforts to optimize its business environment have attracted investments from renowned companies such as Huashi Group, Fosun, and Seif Group to set up their headquarters or regional headquarters in Xiamen.
Another project in Xiamen is a beer town that features commercial and residential areas, a digital town, a headquarters and a Heineken beer production base with an annual output capacity of 400,000 tons.
Xiamen has been bolstering its effort to improve business environment and supporting facilities this year to attract investment

As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
