On April 14, the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center in Xiamen, Fujian province, offered an online workshop on tax and legal issues relating to investment in Brazil. During the event, LIDE China, an organization aiming to boost trade between China and Brazil, signed cooperation agreements with five Chinese companies, including two sci-tech companies based in Xiamen.
The agreements were designed to create professional service platforms to assist Chinese companies seeking local partners in the Brazilian market through training and roadshows.
"We have maintained good partnerships with other BRICS members," said He Yongkang, founder of DaHeZhongBang (Xiamen) Intelligent Technology Co, which is one of the companies that signed agreements.
He added that the company will continue to learn about Brazil's design and architectural criteria and strengthen technical exchange with the country, and it is willing to set up a joint venture with local construction companies.
During the training, Reinaldo Ravelli from Brazilian law firm TRW taught the attendees about the country's tax system and commonly seen tax and legal affairs when investing in Brazil.
Since its founding, the BRICS innovation center has held a series of trainings in collaboration with relevant organizations in Brazil, with the goal of promoting Xiamen's reputation, attracting investment, and assisting Chinese companies to "go out".
Why Xiamen

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
