Xiamen has been beefing up its efforts to speed up the optimization of its port business environment since it participated in a special campaign launched by the General Administration of Customs in January.
Various measures, such as optimizing the whole customs clearance process, reducing the cost of imports and exports, emphasizing digital empowerment to improve efficiency and business convenience, and taking a slew of actions to increase enterprises' satisfaction, have been implemented to boost the improvement of the port business environment in Xiamen.
Sinotrans Limited, for example, a large comprehensive logistics platform, installed two intelligent machines with automatic sealing, selling, and self-lifting and unloading container functions, contributing to the "paperless" development of Xiamen Port's container transport and facilitating Xiamen's cross-border trade.
Xiamen has also deepened the pilot work on China Cargo Sky Portal, an aviation logistics public information platform, since the start of the special action, to promote the integration of whole-chain information at airports, explore the entire process of electronic, paperless aviation cross-border trade, and improve customs clearance efficiency.
The use of "single-document" multimodal transportation in Xiamen lowers supply chain costs and boosts logistics efficiency.
Furthermore, a batch of containers loaded with automobile parts arrived in Xiamen on Feb 25 and will be transported to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in about eight days, thanks to "single-document" multimodal transportation, which cuts off two to three days of previous traditional transport times.

As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
