Xiamen to strengthen support for small, micro enterprises

On May 31, the China Export and Credit Insurance Cooperation's Third Service Festival for Small and Micro Businesses kicked off at the Xiamen sub-venue, with the cooperation's Xiamen Branch launching the small and micro-sized businesses service brand and certifying "little giant" cooperation companies.
At the offline sub-venue, officials and representatives from government and financial institutions such as the municipal bureau of commerce and the Bank of China (BOC)'s Xiamen Branch, as well as representatives of some micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, and over 200 Xiamen enterprises, attended the launch ceremony.
In the following three months, the Xiamen Branch of China Export and Credit Insurance Cooperation will carry out a slew of events themed on supporting small and micro foreign trade enterprises and offer higher-quality service to the enterprises.
The Xiamen Branch of China Export and Credit Insurance Cooperation and the Xiamen Branch of BOC signed an action plan to carry out cooperation in five aspects to jointly boost the development of foreign trade enterprises.
Xiamen has launched a series of supportive measures to help enterprises overcome difficulties and to create a good business environment, said Lin Zhenya, deputy director of the municipal bureau of commerce.
Since the beginning of this year, the Xiamen Branch of China Export and Credit Insurance Cooperation has supported 3,182 small and micro-sized enterprises, which is a 62 percent increase compared to the number from the previous year. It has helped small and micro-sized enterprises to export goods worth a total of $1.65 billion, an increase of 66 percent year-on-year.

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
