14th Straits Forum to open in Fujian
The 14th Straits Forum will kick off in Fujian province on July 12 with the main venue set in Xiamen, Zhu Fenglian, a spokeswoman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on July 7.
The main conference of the forum is scheduled to take place on July 13.
This year's forum is themed on expanding people-to-people exchanges and deepening integrated development on both sides of the Taiwan Straits.
People from different walks of life in Taiwan, including representatives of political parties, co-sponsors of the forum, various social organizations, and industry elites have been invited to attend the forum.
Forty-three events will take place both online and offline to facilitate communication among youths and people at the primary level, as well as promote cultural and economic exchanges, Zhu said.
About 2,000 guests from Taiwan are expected to attend this year's forum, which will continue to focus on grassroots issues and youth groups, and all in attendance are expected to join hands with Taiwan compatriots to promote traditional Chinese culture, share development opportunities and boost integrated cross-Straits economic and social development.
