Xiamen's wholesale, retail sectors post growth in Jan-June
According to recent statistics, from January to June, the wholesale and retail sectors of Xiamen in Fujian province achieved total sales of 1.88 trillion yuan ($277.31 billion), an increase of 26.6 percent year-on-year.
Of which, the wholesale and retail sectors above designated size achieved sales of 1.71 trillion yuan during the same time period, with an increase of 29 percent year-on-year.
Among 27 commodity categories, 20 commodity categories of wholesale trade above designated size achieved sales growth, accounting for 74.1 percent, and 15 commodity categories of retail trade above designated size achieved sales growth, accounting for 55.6 percent.
The wholesale sector experienced higher growth as a result of bulk commodity trading. Metal and chemical products sold 1.082 trillion yuan in total during the first half of this year, up 35 percent year-on-year. This resulted in a 22.5 percentage point gain in the wholesale sector above designated size.
Statistics also show that from January to June, Xiamen's retail sales of consumer goods reached 142.03 billion yuan with an increase of 0.3 percent, and was 1 percentage point higher than the national average.
In the first half of the year, Xiamen's online retail sales above designated size achieved 34.292 billion yuan, an increase of 14.6 percent year-on-year, and increased the city's total retail sales by 3.1 percentage points.
During the same time period, Xiamen's catering sector above designated size realized a turnover of 5.72 billion yuan, an increase of 22.2 percent year-on-year.
