In 2021, the sales of the Xiamen's wholesale and retail industry exceeded 3 trillion yuan ($413.9 billion) for the first time in history.

As one of the earliest special economic zones established in China, Xiamen has developed a national first-class supply chain industry, and it has successfully ranked among the first batch of supply chain innovation and application demonstration cities nationwide.

Over the past 10 years, Xiamen's logistics development boasts a large number of quality demonstration companies and an innovative development model.

In terms of the number of quality companies, Xiamen is home to nearly 18,000 logistics-related companies, and nine of which were selected as national supply chain innovation and application demonstration companies.

Among the four supply giants in China, three are from Xiamen – C&D Group, ITG Holding Group, and Xiangyu Group. They specialize in fields such as steel, coal, textiles, rubber, grain and other bulk commodities, and offer logistics services to over 100,000 companies worldwide.

Xiamen has formed domestically leading supply chain models such as the "virtual factory", industrial chain integration in vertical fields, and the digital supply chain, which have laid a solid foundation for the rapid development of the supply chain.

The development of the supply chain has contributed to Xiamen's economic and social development, and urban internationalization. During the first half of this year, the trade supply chain alone contributed 13.9 percent to the city's GDP and 14.7 percent of its tax revenue.
