Recently, Xiamen formed a delegation consisting of representatives from the government and enterprises to visit Europe, aiming to help Xiamen enterprises to explore markets and attract more Europe-based multinational companies to invest in Xiamen.
The delegation, which is the first one to be formed of its kind after the outbreak of COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, organized 36 Xiamen enterprises to visit and explore European markets, and received the first order worth nearly $50 million.
The delegation visited four multinational companies – TOMRA, Merck, Schneider, and FORVIA – to promote Xiamen's business environment and investment opportunities.
Xiamen's efforts and achievements in developing modern industrial systems have been highly recognized and appreciated by European multinational companies. For example, Schneider signed a memorandum of understanding for long-term cooperation with Xiamen Torch Development Zone for High Technology Industries to build a low-carbon industrial park and an Asia Pacific regional headquarters.
The delegation also reached cooperation intentions with Cathy Capital and a Sino-German science and technology industrial park for setting up a business office in Heidelberg, innovating industrial cooperation models with Europe, and jointly building a two-way platform for sci-tech incubation, investment and financing in Europe.
In addition, the delegation visited leading shipping enterprises such as Royal Dutch Airlines and the Europe headquarters of COSCO Shipping Lines to discuss strengthening logistics cooperation and optimizing the global supply chain layout.
Why Xiamen

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
