As the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership agreement, or RCEP, has been implemented in more countries, foreign trade companies in Xiamen have been leveraging the chance to achieve further development.
According to Xiamen Customs, it issued 13,070 RCEP certificates of origin to 544 export enterprises in the first 11 months of 2022, with a total value of about 784 million yuan ($116.55 million), and their tariffs were reduced by 48 million yuan.
At the same time, import enterprises received a total of 724 RCEP certificates of origin, and their tariffs were reduced by 13.18 million yuan.
Since the RCEP agreement took effect last year, Xiamen has responded with great passion. In March 2022, a platform in the charge of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce was launched to provide RCEP-related information and one-stop services for foreign trade enterprises.
To maximize the benefits brought by the RCEP agreement, Xiamen continues to develop new RCEP opportunities for Xiamen enterprises. Currently, there are 97 RCEP lines linking Xiamen enterprises to foreign markets.
Furthermore, Xiamen has been trying to cultivate high-quality enterprises and help export their products. In 2022, there were a great number of enterprises recognized as self-owned brand enterprises and key foreign trade enterprises, and supporting systems were also established to help them benefit from the RCEP agreement.
