Catering industry flourishes during Spring Festival holiday in Xiamen

During the Spring Festival holiday, business districts in Xiamen were crowded with foodies as a great number of promotional events were presented by restaurants, which exemplifies the booming catering industry in Xiamen.

According to statistics released by catering industry association of Xiamen, during the Spring Festival holiday, the sales volume of large seafood restaurants increased by 18 percent year-on-year, and the sales volume of restaurants providing local Fujian specialties and internet-famous restaurants increased by 40 percent and 100 percent, respectively, year-on-year.

To further promote the growth of the catering industry during the holiday, the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce issued a number of favorable policies, including those giving financial support to restaurant owners, and officially announced that in the coming year more vouchers will be given out to Xiamen residents and more shopping events will be held to foster Xiamen’s image as a city with thriving shopping festivals.

In addition to booming business districts, the holiday also saw prosperity at street markets, with customers waiting in long lines to buy delicious local snacks.
