Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce in southeast China's Fujian province is launching a year-long overseas expansion campaign and organizing thousands of local foreign trade enterprises to attend top international exhibitions.

In response to the country's call of promoting a higher standard of opening-up, the campaign is expected to encourage local enterprises to actively go global to get orders and expand overseas markets as epidemic control policies have eased.

Stronger support and better services will also be offered, including higher subsidies for enterprises attending overseas exhibitions and the establishment of a multi-dimensional overseas service network, according to Lin Zhenya, deputy director of Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce.

Xiamen carried out a rating project by sorting local enterprises into degrees of internationalization, and eight companies were rated as A-level international enterprises. Five overseas investment and trade service stations were inaugurated in Brazil, Japan, India and Singapore to better serve enterprises that are developing their overseas businesses.   

The MAGIC Las Vegas 2023 event, which takes place from Feb 13 to 15, focuses on the global growth strategy. The event will be attended by around 20 Xiamen businesses, and they hope for successful outcomes.

Several neighborhood businesses have begun to benefit from the program since early January. The Asian Toys & Baby Products Show included 14 companies from Xiamen, with over $5 million worth of contracted orders placed there.
