Floral market booms in Xiamen
With the arrival of spring and a great number of new flowers being offered by Xiamen's flower breeding centers, the flower market is booming in the city.
Covering an area of 160,000 square meters, one flower breeding center in the city enjoys a high level of intelligence, from sowing, forced germination to delivery.
According to a person in charge, the floral market is recovering from last year's stagnancy, which was partly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Current orders of the center are yet to be fulfilled in May.
With a total investment of more than 100 million yuan ($14.56 million), Xiamen Heming Flower Technology Co plans to build an innovative industrial park to breed high-quality butterfly orchids. According to Liu Yajun, chairman of the board of the company, the company is currently enjoying an overwhelming number of orders.
In addition to the breeding market, the sales market is also booming. According to a staff member of a fleshiness enterprise in Xiamen, the sales volume of the company has recorded a year-on-year increase of about 15 percent.
According to Zhou Zhizhong, his e-commerce company sold much more orchids and bougainvilleas this year, and has a sales volume ranging from 150,000 yuan to 200,000 yuan each day, which is an increase of 20 percent year-on-year.
