An investment promotion event titled "German Hidden Champion Enterprises' Xiamen Tour" was held in the coastal city of Fujian province from March 1 to 2, attracting 20 "hidden champions" from Germany and five from other European countries.

"Hidden champions" refer to small and medium-sized enterprises that occupy a leading position in a segmented market, but are not known to the public.

Wang Peicheng, deputy director of the Xiamen bureau of commerce, introduced the city's business environment and industrial advantages during the event. He said Xiamen is constructing the "4+4+6" modern industrial system, expanding the industrial clusters and continuing to create a breeding ground for advantageous industries. As China's special economic zone, Xiamen has attracted 107 German enterprises thanks to its export-oriented economy. 

During the event, enterprises visited local industrial parks including the third phase of Xiamen Software Park, Xiamen Haicang Biomedical Port, Tongxiang High-tech Zone and Torch Graphene New Material Industrial Park to learn more about the city's business environment, investment policies and upstream and downstream industrial chains.

"Xiamen has done a good job in the layout of the biomedical industry," said Shi Huana Li Fan, general manager at the Shanghai subsidiary of WALDNER.  "Through this trip, I really felt the advantages of Xiamen's business environment and industrial development. This is a city appealing to hidden champion companies.”

The event also served as an exchange and cooperation bridge between "hidden champions" and local enterprises through precise matchmaking meetings.

"Xiamen has made outstanding achievements in foreign investment and trade. We will invite more 'hidden champions' in various segmented markets in the future," said Chen Min, director of the Xiamen bureau of commerce.
