6 Xiamen-based companies rank among China's top 500
On July 12, Fortune magazine announced the 2023 list of China's top 500 publicly-listed companies. Six companies based in Xiamen made the cut. These include Xiamen C&D Co, Xiamen Xiangyu Co, Xiamen ITG Group Corp, Xiamen Xinde Co, Xiamen Tungsten Co, and Chengtun Mining Group Co.
The ranking reflects is based on China's publicly-traded companies' performance over the past year. The 500 companies on the list generated a combined total revenue of 65.8 trillion yuan ($9.17 trillion), with a net profit of 4.7 trillion yuan. The threshold to make the list was nearly 23.7 billion yuan.
Three state-owned enterprises based in Xiamen, C&D, Xiangyu, and ITG, lead Fujian's SOE ranking. The top privately-owned companies in Fujian are Contemporary Amperex Technology Co and Zijin Mining Group Co, ranked 44th and 51st, respectively, on the Fortune 500 list.

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
