Xiamen enterprises back summer popular films
This summer, numerous popular films have received some form of support from Xiamen as many enterprises from the city have played a role in the production, distribution, and creation of these shows.
Over 30 companies had jointly produced and distributed "No More Bets", a hot summer crime drama, with two of these companies based in Xiamen. Douyin Culture (Xiamen) was the co-producer, while Xiamen Shangshi film industry was the co-distributor.
As of Aug 18, Douyin Culture (Xiamen) had invested in 49 films to date. These films have generated a combined box office revenue of 50.96 billion yuan ($6.98 billion).
In addition to "No More Bets", Douyin Culture (Xiamen) has co-produced several popular summer movies this year such as "Meg 2: The Trench", "One and Only", and "Lost in the Stars". Besides co-production, it has also participated in the joint distribution of numerous films, including "Home Coming" and "Flashover".
From 2019 to 2022, Xiamen has consistently ranked among the top in the nation in terms of the number of film registration companies and the production companies of the top 50 box office films.
Over the past five years, the number of Xiamen's cultural and film industry companies and institutions has increased by an average of 10.2 percent annually, with revenues growing by an average of 17.8 percent per year.

Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
