Xiamen's foreign trade import and export reach record high

In 2023, Xiamen's foreign trade import and export volume exceeded 940 billion yuan ($131 billion), a new historic high.
In 2023, the import and export increased by 2.7 percent, surpassing the national average by 2.5 percentage points.
In 2023, the total volume of general trade import and export in Xiamen reached 707.6 billion yuan, a 4.8 percent increase. This growth rate was higher than the national average by 2.8 percentage points and accounted for 74.7 percent of the total import and export value.
The cross-border e-commerce industry generated an import and export volume of 23.67 billion yuan through the cross-border e-commerce regulatory platform, a 65 percent increase.
Notably, the import and export value of customs special supervision areas such as bonded zones and comprehensive bonded zones exceeded 200 billion yuan for the first time, a 14.6 percent increase and accounting for 88.7 percent of the total value in Fujian province.
Over the past year, Xiamen has established trade relations with 230 countries and regions worldwide, an increase of 11 trading partners compared to 2022.
Xiamen's imports and exports to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative were worth 460.79 billion yuan, a 1.4 percent increase.
Additionally, imports and exports to RCEP member countries reached 315.61 billion yuan, a 0.03 percent increase, while imports and exports to the BRICS countries totaled 109.25 billion yuan, demonstrating a 14.4 percent increase.
In 2023, Xiamen witnessed a continuous increase in the technological content and added value of its export products, as well as a sustained optimization of its export structure.
