The first batch of "Silk Road Maritime" smart containers in China was put into use in Xiamen on March 22.

Seven of them were loaded onto a vessel bound for Vietnam. Along the way, cargo owners and logistics service companies can use the "Silk Road Maritime" international comprehensive logistics service platform to stay updated on their latest status in real time.

The first batch consists of 625 smart containers, which are equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology. Through mobile communication and dual-channel satellite positioning using Beidou and GPS, the containers can be traced throughout the logistics process.

Currently, they are mainly used for Southeast Asian routes and the Strait Express. The next step will involve expanding their use to domestic container transport and sea-rail combined transport, gradually serving the entire supply chain logistics.
