Largest single export of Xiamen-produced vaccines from China completed
Under the supervision of Xiamen Customs, a total of 703,700 doses of bivalent HPV, or human papillomavirus vaccine, were exported on March 26. This is also the largest single export of domestically produced HPV vaccines in China.
As the only vaccine in the world that can prevent cancer, the HPV vaccine is sought by women around the world. In August 2020, Xiamen Customs cleared 70 doses of domestically produced HPV vaccine for export, marking China's breaking of the long-standing foreign monopoly on HPV vaccine production.
Benefiting from HPV Awareness Day (March 4) and International Women's Day (March 8), vaccine manufacturer Xiamen Innovax Biotech saw an increase in foreign trade orders in March.
As of March 25, Innovax had exported 703,800 doses of HPV vaccine this year with the support of customs and other relevant departments, a 15-fold increase compared to the same period in 2023.
In order to support the expansion of overseas markets for domestic vaccines, Xiamen Customs has optimized the approval process for the entry and exit health and quarantine of special items.
Customs has utilized various inspection methods such as remote video inspection for exports, centralized platform inspection, and on-site inspection, reducing the average inspection time for each shipment by 326 hours and lowering enterprise logistics and warehousing costs by 24 percent.
