The 2024 Xiamen University (XMU) Institute of Creativity and Innovation, or ICI, Design Season recently officially kicked off and its exhibition is open to the public – scheduled to run to May 29.
The exhibition showcases the graduation designs of over 100 undergraduate students from the institute's first visual communications design and environmental art design majors.
It focuses on contemporary creative education exploration and design innovation practices across cultural and interdisciplinary backgrounds. The works are said to demonstrate the creative responses and innovative solutions of young students to current social issues.
Following the opening ceremony, the guests visited the graduation design exhibition, where they checked out the student stands and presentations.
The exhibited works cover multidimensional and interdisciplinary design practices, including communications design, digital interactions and dynamic graphics.
The exhibition area for visual communications design major is understood to display the in-depth findings of graduates and their exploration of contemporary topics, design concepts and language structures.
What's more, the exhibition area for the environmental art design major uses spatial analysis and scene simulations to demonstrate the reflections of graduates and their understanding of the relationship between people and the environment.
In 2019, XMU and the University for the Creative Arts in the United Kingdom jointly established the ICI, becoming XMU's first Sino-foreign cooperative educational institute.
Through a series of exhibitions, XMU's ICI aims to showcase its unique charm and academic strength in the field of design education to society.
