Aug 15 is National Ecological Day in China, with this year's theme of "Accelerating Green Transition in all Areas of Economic and Social Development".

The Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce has consistently been promoting the implementation of the city's green transition and extending eco-friendly protection in the commercial and trade sector.

Under a series of initiatives being driven by the Xiamen Bureau of Commerce, major shopping malls in Xiamen are undergoing green transformations tailored to their specific circumstances.

For example, through digital transformations, they are implementing energy-saving technologies such as paperless cash registers, electronic receipts and online marketing.

This not only provides customers with a more convenient experience, but also makes them contributors to energy conservation.

The Xiamen Bureau of Commerce is said to be organically integrating the work of recycling renewable resources with the pilot project "One-Minute Convenient Living Circle" by promoting collaboration between FOOK Convenience Stores and the TOMRA Group.

In select FOOK stores in Xiamen, TOMRA's smart recycling machines will be installed to provide residents with convenient recycling channels within the community.

What's more, the Xiamen Bureau of Commerce has continually promoted the concept of food conservation and waste reduction through various channels to enhance the awareness of residents in terms of countering food wastage.

Since 2023, Xiamen has organized 17 themed activities, meticulously creating multiple promotional scenarios.

For instance, menus now feature options like individual servings, half portions and shared meals, allowing diners to choose according to their own needs and preferences.
