At the 20th meeting of the China-Hungary Economic Joint Committee on April 24, Hungary was invited to serve as guest country of honor for the 24th China International Fair for Investment and Trade or CIFIT, scheduled to take place in Xiamen on Sept 8-11.
Hungary is a production base and logistics hub in Europe, and is widely said to be a close partner with shared values and parallel development with China.
"Our slogan for this CIFIT is Hungary: Bridge to Europe," said Peter Varfi, consul general of Hungary in Guangzhou.
He expressed the hope that through the 24th CIFIT, the Sino-Hungarian friendship would be utilized to explore the potential for bilateral economic and trade cooperation, as well as overall strengthened cooperation in various fields.
At the 24th CIFIT, Hungary will set up a 450-square-meter national pavilion to showcase its technological and cultural endeavors.
The exhibition will include smart interactive walls, touch screens and virtual reality devices, as well as a large and uniquely Hungarian Rubik's Cube.
Concurrently, a series of themed activities will be held to highlight investment opportunities in Hungary, as well as products and innovative achievements in logistics, automotive sector, agriculture and other fields.
Since 2015, each year Hungary has been participating in CIFIT in groups in order to conduct commerce and trade negotiations.
In 2023, several Hungarian companies participated in the 23rd CIFIT as a group. This is said to have further deepened cooperation between China and Hungary in emerging fields such as clean energy, artificial intelligence and mobile communications technology.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
