Xiamen released the "enhanced support for trade-in programs for consumer goods" implementation plan on Sept 11. It covers a raft of areas including automobiles, household appliances, home decoration and kitchen and bathroom products, as well as home renovations.

The aim of the plan is to further stimulate consumption and enhance the quality of lives of residents.

The policy measures introduced at this time aim to expand the scope of support. In addition to continuing the implementation of subsidies for scrapping and updating cars, the subsidy scope now includes the replacement and updating of passenger cars for individual consumers.

The policy also increases support for trade-in subsidies for household appliances and home products such as refrigerators, washing machines and TVs.

What's more, it will continue to implement subsidies for scrapping and updating old commercial trucks, new energy buses and power battery updates. It will further expand the subsidy categories for agricultural machinery.

To top it off, there will be an increase in subsidy standards. For the eligible scrapping and updating of cars, the subsidy standards have been raised from the previous 10,000 yuan ($1,409) for purchasing new energy passenger cars and 7,000 yuan for purchasing fuel passenger cars to 20,000 yuan and 15,000 yuan, respectively.

To effectively implement the newly released plan, Xiamen will strengthen its financial support.

The city plans to allocate over 1 billion yuan for trade-in subsidies this year. Relevant departments in Xiamen will increase their investment in technical resources and risk control measures to guarantee that the financial support reaches consumers both promptly and effectively.
