During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, Xiamen's automotive, home appliances, home furnishings, and kitchen and bathroom industries launched a trade-in event and the Renewal Season of the 2024 Xiamen Consumer Festival, lending a boost to consumption.

The events encourage consumers to trade in their old products for new ones, providing them with certain discounts and subsidies.

Staff at Xiamen Suning said that during the holiday, the trade-in event led to a major boost in sales. On Sept 15, total sales increased by 1,858 percent year-on-year, with nearly 400 air conditioners sold alone, while on Sept 16, sales growth reached 1,688 percent year-on-year.

Thanks to car scrappage and renewal subsidies, major car sales outlets are also busier than usual. The subsidies and renewal activities not only bring benefits to consumers but also create new development opportunities for the automotive industry, effectively stimulating the growth of car consumption and increasing car sales volume.

The new trade-in policy, driven by government guidance, financial support, and corporate participation, has boosted consumption in Xiamen.

Many of the preferential activities will continue through the National Day holiday, providing hope of a continued boost in consumption over the coming weeks.
