Xiamen's exports thrive in H1

In the first half of the year, Xiamen in East China's Fujian province saw its exports surge to 252.71 billion yuan ($35 billion), up 7.9 percent year-on-year, surpassing the national and provincial averages. 

Exports increased in sectors such as automobiles, flat panel display modules, biodiesel, and air conditioning.

According to data from Xiamen Customs, the city's automobile exports reached a total value of 7.9 billion yuan in the first half of the year, a remarkable 90.8 percent year-on-year growth. Commercial vehicles and passenger cars performed exceptionally well, with respective increases of 104.4 percent and 71.9 percent compared to the previous year. The United Arab Emirates emerged as the top destination for Xiamen's automobile exports in the first half of the year, accounting for 19.4 percent of the total and doubling year-on-year.

High-tech industries in Xiamen have also demonstrated impressive export performance. Dong Zhengjun, general manager of UNISOL Membrane Technology (Xiamen) Co Ltd, a Xiamen-based enterprise engaged in the development of high-performance membrane materials, said that "Our overseas orders increased by around 30 percent in the first half of the year," and the company is starting to expand its market reach in countries like Malaysia, Vietnam, Russia, and Kazakhstan.

Fujian exported biodiesel worth 997 million yuan in the first on this year, ranking first nationwide, with notable contributions from Xiamen-based enterprises.

Fujian saw air conditioner exports reach 140 million yuan, marking a substantial 57.9 percent year-on-year growth, with Xiamen-related enterprises playing a pivotal role.
