The second working meeting of the Organizing Committee of the 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) was held in Xiamen on Aug 18.
The 25th CIFIT will be held in Xiamen from Sept 8 to 11. Delegations from nearly 100 countries, regions, and international organizations have already confirmed their participation, with an estimated 80,000 business attendees expected to take part in the event.
The meeting emphasized the need to highlight CIFIT's role as a landmark event for "Invest in China" and an international public service platform for two-way investment. Centered around the theme "Join Hands with China, Invest in the Future", discussions focused on three key segments — "Invest in China", "Chinese Investment", and "International Investment".
Under the "Invest in China" section, six dedicated zones will be set up, including Provincial and City Promotion, Financial Capital Matchmaking, and Presentation Roadshows.
The "Chinese Investment" segment will feature three major zones: China's Outbound Investment and Cooperation, Overseas Integrated Services, and the "Silk Road Maritime" initiative.
Within the "International Investment" division, zones such as Global Cooperation, and International Investment Services will be established. A China-UK investment exchange series will also be launched.
This edition of CIFIT marks the first time that exhibitions and project roadshows have been organized through market-oriented mechanisms as well as the first time that a dedicated Cross-Strait Integrated Development Zone has been set up.
The "CIFIT Online" platform has gathered a total of 4,000 projects from various sources, with key high-quality projects being promoted in batches to major overseas delegations and member units.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
