The "Invest in Fujian" Signing Ceremony for Key Major Projects was held during the 25th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center on Sept 8.
The Xiamen delegation signed deals for 11 major investment promotion projects, with a total planned investment of 36.1 billion yuan ($5.07 billion), marking the fourth consecutive year of growth. Both the total signed investment value and the amount of foreign-funded projects have ranked first in the province for the past four sessions.
The Xiamen delegation signed agreements for six major foreign-invested projects, with a total investment of 11.6 billion yuan, covering sectors such as electronic information, new energy, aviation maintenance, and financial services.
Projects in strategic emerging industries such as new energy and new materials were a prominent highlight of the Xiamen signed agreements. Leading new energy firm CATL will establish a high-performance lithium-ion battery factory in Xiamen.
In addition to the signing of agreements for provincial-level major projects, the Xiamen delegation seized the opportunity to engage with top international institutions and business representatives from home and abroad, resulting in a new batch of investment promotion achievements.
During this year's CIFIT, global top 500 company Brookfield Asset Management Inc from Canada expressed its intent to collaborate with Xiamen on establishing a China industrial logistics Pre-REIT fund.
The fund will focus on mergers, acquisitions, and development in areas such as high-standard logistics parks, rental apartments, commercial facilities, cross-border logistics, and new energy.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
