Xiamen Port opens new export route for inland new energy industry
Twenty-six new energy vehicles (NEVs) from Xiangyang, Hubei province, have recently departed from Xiamen Port to Gdansk Port, Poland, via combined rail-sea transit, marking Xiamen Port's first time exporting the "new three" — electric vehicles, lithium batteries and solar photovoltaic products — outside Fujian province. Xiamen Port has now successfully created an efficient "inland-coastal" gateway for China's new energy industry.

New energy vehicles are classified as miscellaneous dangerous substances and articles, which require extremely strict supervision when shipped in containers. To ensure safe and smooth delivery, Xiamen Maritime Safety Administration has taken measures to strengthen safety risk prevention and control of the whole process.
The Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce has conducted specialized research with local authorities and signed a memorandum of understanding with Wuhan Maritime Safety Administration in July.
Both parties worked together to establish the rail-sea intermodal system for the new energy industry, achieving seamless connection and supervision for the whole process of "producing in Wuhan and exporting from Xiamen" and laying a solid foundation for promoting the first delivery.

In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
