Over 100m cross-border e-commerce export orders handled at Xiamen Airport this year
The cross-border e-commerce export zone at Xiamen Airport Cargo Terminal was bustling with activity on Dec 9. A batch of cross-border parcels — containing shoes, clothing, luggage, and other goods — was shipped overseas via a dedicated air freight route.
Driven by promotional campaigns such as "Double 12" shopping festival, Xiamen Airport is experiencing another peak in cross-border e-commerce exports this year. As of Dec 9, the airport has handled over 100 million cross-border e-commerce export parcels.
Xiamen Limeng International Shipping Agency Co Ltd is a logistics enterprise with years of deep-rooted operations in Xiamen, specializing in the export of clothing, footwear, and headwear to the Americas and Southeast Asia. This year, the value of goods exported through its cross-border e-commerce channels has exceeded 2 billion yuan ($283 million).
In response to the recent surge, Xiamen Airport Customs has leveraged the "Smart Customs" initiative to deepen the "Single Window + Air Cargo Logistics" model. This move has eliminated three types of paper-based documents, improved the efficiency of cargo handling operations for enterprises, and enabled "one-click tracking" of customs clearance status for goods.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
