Xiamen's Silk Road Maritime routes post robust results in 2025

In 2025, a total of 4,654 voyages were completed across the nationwide network of 141 designated Silk Road Maritime container routes, handling 5.42 million TEUs in container throughput. Additionally, three specialized bulk and general cargo routes completed 174 voyages, with the cargo handling volume reaching 12.27 million metric tons.

The Silk Road Maritime is a national-level international shipping and integrated logistics service brand and platform serving the Belt and Road Initiative. It originated in Xiamen, and has expanded globally. 

The Port of Xiamen currently operates 65 designated Silk Road Maritime container routes, which completed a total of 2,008 voyages last year, handling a container throughput of 2.31 million TEUs — a year-on-year increase of 3.26%. Among these, two domestic container routes operated 245 voyages, with a container throughput of 494,000 TEUs.

Since its launch in 2018, the Silk Road Maritime has been well-received by foreign trade enterprises. As of December 31st, 2025, the nationwide network of 141 designated Silk Road Maritime container routes had completed a total of 22,287 voyages, handling a cumulative container throughput of 26.25 million TEUs. Among these, the 65 Silk Road Maritime container routes operating from the Port of Xiamen accounted for 13,857 voyages and a container throughput of 15.64 million TEUs.
