The Seashine Cafe at Shapowei on Daxue Road reopened after undergoing renovations on Feb 1.
Seashine Cafe, a local Xiamen brand, integrates technology with coffee culture, highlighting its regional identity. While preserving the architectural features of Minnan (Southern Fujian) arcade-style buildings, the cafe uses modern design to create a multifunctional lifestyle space that brings together coffee, light meals, culture, and social interaction.
In the future, the venue will regularly host activities such as food festivals, art pop-ups, and community markets, transforming it into a new culture and tourism hotspot in Shapowei.

The Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce continues to promote the close integration of the coffee industry with local culture, experimenting with diverse business formats. In the first quarter, districts across Xiamen will coordinate efforts to boost consumption by incorporating coffee elements into regional cultural and tourism.
Meanwhile, the "2026 Xiamen Specialty Coffee Map" initiative will be launched. This project involves the in-depth exploration of culturally distinctive and high-quality coffee shops and streets, with 50 outstanding businesses to be featured on the map. The initiative also includes the creation of district-based coffee cultural tourism routes, realizing the vision of "connecting urban experiences over a cup of coffee".
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
