A invoice lottery pilot program in Xiamen kicked off on Feb 10 and will run for nearly six months, ending on July 31.

Individuals who shop in eight key sectors — retail, catering, accommodation, culture and arts, entertainment, tourism, sports, and residential services — and receive a valid digital e-invoice with a single receipt totaling 100 yuan ($14.5) or more (tax included) are eligible to participate. Simply upload the invoice via the UnionPay app for verification and you will be included in the draw.

Each participant is capped at three verified invoices per day for entry into the lottery, with a maximum of 100 invoices total throughout the entire program.

The program features both instant and periodic draws. All prizes are issued as electronic red packets credited directly to the winner's verified UnionPay account. There are no strings attached — the money can be spent anywhere.

Instant draws offer four prize tiers: 100 yuan, 80 yuan, 50 yuan, and 30 yuan. Results are delivered instantly.

Periodic draws feature three prize tiers: 800 yuan, 500 yuan, and 200 yuan. They are open to invoices that meet the criteria but did not win in the instant draw. A total of five periodic draws will be held throughout the program.

Winning lists will be published promptly via official channels such as the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce website and its WeChat account. Prizes will be distributed by the service platform within 10 working days after each draw. Consumers are advised to stay tuned for updates.

More than 400 merchants in Xiamen have already joined the initiative as part of the first batch, offering additional promotions alongside purchases made with winning red packets.
