The 2026 Xiamen International ITS (Intelligent Traffic System) Industry Expo (CITSE) drew large crowds to the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center from May 13 to 15. Visitors thronged booths featuring unmanned ships, autonomous ride‑hailing vehicles, and low‑altitude aircraft — a clear sign that the coming revolution in sea, land, and air transport is capturing the public's imagination.
Covering 20,000 square meters of exhibition space, this year's expo drew trade visitors from more than 30 countries and regions. It featured over 200 leading companies, universities, and research institutions, and displayed more than 1,000 innovations across the full smart transport ecosystem — from equipment and products to technologies and solutions.
Running alongside the expo were over 20 product launch events, where more than 30 groundbreaking intelligent transportation technologies and products were unveiled. Among them, Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center showcased its L4 (high-level autonomous) self-driving minibus and an embodied intelligent unmanned delivery vehicle.
Rail transit is also making a strong push toward autonomy — as demonstrated by the Xiamen Metro booth, which featured the Urbalis 888 fully automatic train control system for Metro Lines 4 and 6. This system operates at the highest international grade of train automation, requiring no human intervention from start to finish.
Beihang University showcased a 115‑kg single‑person low‑altitude aircraft with a top speed of 150 km/h. Xiamen Usvtech displayed smart unmanned patrol and survey vessels with autonomous obstacle avoidance and intelligent cruising, demonstrating the future of smart maritime mobility.
Why Xiamen
-
Xiamen is one of the most economically competitive cities in China and was one of the first Special Economic Zones on the Chinese mainland. As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
