A China-Germany economic and trade matchmaking event between Xiamen and Rhineland-Palatinate was held in Xiamen, a port city on China's southeast coast on July 6.

The German delegation was led by Dr Joe Weingarten, director of the Foreign Trade Division at the Ministry of Economics of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The group included Jana Ludwig, deputy consul-general from the German Consulate General in Guangzhou, the CEO of the Rheinhessen Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and other key officials and business association representatives, along with the heads of 10 well-known German companies such as Imacs, Weinhaus Hauck, and Lubis EDA.

About 20 Xiamen companies attended. They work in advanced manufacturing, precision machinery, electronics, new materials, and wine trading. These sectors match well with Rhineland-Palatinate's strengths in auto manufacturing, mechanical processing, precision instruments, AI, and wine. This strong alignment provides a solid basis for practical cooperation.

Dr Weingarten said the German state sits right in the heart of Europe and is one of his country's most dynamic and export‑driven economies.

The 10 companies visiting this time cover a wide mix of industries. Their delegates came to Fujian eager to get a closer look at the Chinese market, connect with possible partners, and find ways to create value for both sides.

In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
